Letter from the Project Director
On Behalf of myself, the Board of Directors, and the Staff of Jefferson Comprehensive Health Center/Mississippi SHINE Project, I extend to you a warm welcome!
The health of our communities depends on having access to care and educational resources that can assure a good quality of life.
Through the Mississippi SHINE Project, we provide these resources and care by offering general health screening, nutritional education, obesity management, and diabetes management. Educational sessions are conducted by certified and trained staff that change lives by directly engaging communities.

Nutritional Education
We hold seminars and cooking events at schools and other locations to show how to plan and prepare healthy meals. We also hand out healthy eating educational materials for later reference.
Exercise
We hold exercise events to show people how to plan and execute an effective exercise routine for their fitness levels and needs. We also hand out various exercise materials for later reference.
Youth Events
Our children hold the future, but require a different educational approach. We offer events tailored to children to keep them energized and interested in the health information we share.
Healthcare Demonstrations
We like to be proactive in our approach to medicine. We frequently demonstrate healthcare checks such as blood pressure, blood sugar, BMI, and more to keep people aware of their options for detecting and solving health issues before they become serious.
Health Demonstrations
We hold demonstrations of exercise techniques, blood pressure monitoring, glucose monitoring, and more to directly show the public how to improve their health rather than just throwing information at them.
Here are a few of our past events and demos.
